Fostering Resiliency: What Trauma Can Teach Us About Building Children's Emotional Strength

Presented by: Kyle Bixenmann

You are invited to attend CSFPA's March "JIT" Workshop. Our goal in 2021 is to provide foster parents with more educational opportunities, scheduled throughout the year, different days, different times, with timely topics!

On Wednesday, March 17th from 6PM until 7:30 PM, we will present, "Fostering Resiliency: What Trauma Can Teach Us About Building Children's Emotional Strength" presented by Kyle Bixenmann from Mount Saint Vincent. Kyle is the external training manager for MSV and is an amazing presenter, instructor and human being. We are so excited to have him back for this workshop.

Workshop Overview:  In these difficult times, stress management and tolerance are more important than ever.  In this training, we will look at how understanding trauma and it's negative impact can help parents foster resilience in children.  Using a neurobiological lens, we will explore how the brain responds to stress and adversity to better understand how we can create environments where children can learn to effectively manage stress and build tolerance.  As parents, we will also explore how the stress of the last year has impacted our lives and discuss how we can establish resilience in ourselves so that we can continue to support our children moving forward.

Please note: Priority registration is given to foster/kinship/adoptive parents. If you are another professional seeking to attend this workshop, you will be moved to wait list and if there is space we will add you to the registration.

This workshop is a "virtual" online workshop using Zoom. You will earn 1.5 hours of educational credit.  Participants must have cameras on for attendance. No call in participation for this workshop.

Certificates delivered post workshop via email.

Location: Your device with camera and microphone capability including lap tops, computers, I-pads, mobile phones. No "call in" telephone attendance.  For best results, we recommend lap tops. To receive credit hours, participants must have camera on with face visible for attendance.
