"How to be a Foster/Kin/Adoptive Parent Ally for Youth of Color"

Presented by Erin Cassidy, MA

"Experiencing Child Welfare and Foster Care

as a Youth of Color"

Join us for a BONUS FRIDAY workshop as we continue our learning and discussion regarding culture, race and ethnicity. This workshop is the third in the Cultural Competency series and you don't want to miss it! If you did not attend the first and second sessions, that's fine - you can still join us for the third workshop in the series.

In this workshop we will cover:

  • The significance of encouraging mentorship for youth of color by people of color;
  • How to strategically and intentionally place people of color into the lives of youth of color;
  • Covers microaggressions and how to be an ally to youth of color.

Due to the popularity of our previous workshop, we are limiting this workshop to resource parents only: foster, kinship, adoptive parents. If you are a caseworker, you will be moved to wait list and if there is space we will add you to the registration.

Erin Cassidy is a trainer, presenter and author with a Master’s in Ethnic Studies from Colorado State University, a Bachelor’s in Africana (Black Diaspora) Studies from the University of Northern Colorado and holds a Graduate Professional Certificate in Women and Gender Studies from Colorado State University.

This workshop is 2 hours.

This workshop is a "virtual" online workshop using Zoom. You will earn 2 hours of educational credit.  Participants MUST have cameras on. No call in participation for this workshop. Certificates delivered post workshop.

Location: Your device with camera and microphone capability including lap tops, computers, I-pads, mobile phones. No "call in" telephone attendance.  For best results, we recommend lap tops. To receive credit hours, participants must have camera on with face visible.

Registration is limited and once full we will move to wait list.

Registration Deadline is Noon, Thursday, November 12th.
